Hosts: Kajsa Balkfors, Phil Cass, Marjeta Novak, Janja Rebolji
About: We, Phil, Kajsa, Marjeta and Janja, have between us a diverse, deep and cross sectoral experience in practicing co-creation, community building and strategic participatory work across sectors in our homelands USA, Sweden and Slovenia. Despite and because of this experiences, rather than offering a teaching and training track we feel invited to step into another level of inquire about community. In the different contexts we come from similar questions below and above the surface are turning the heat up. Making ripples and disruption in society and the human spirit. Us or them, together or separately, connected or disconnected, scarcity or abundance, coexistence or conflict.. Fear or love.
The situations that we find ourself and our societies in today is calling all of us to discover a whole other level of community work, hosting to scale, level of courage. This is what we would like to explore together, weaving inquiry and storytelling. We are inviting diversity and for you to join us in aspiration to create a sense of wholeness stepping into a common inquiry in service of the whole. The overarching question that we are asking is: What does better together really mean? What does it look like? What is needed for it to be real?
What we are inviting us all to explore is:
How am I longing for community and does that have anything to do with a community of practice?
What are the practices that support community? What do we already know?
And as capacity builders and practitioners our inquiry is around:
How can we support the scaling up the experience of community for more people?
How could we practice appreciation on a massive scale?
What we learned
"These past weeks have been super rich in terms of exploring together what moves us ... One of the insights that I take with me (from the track we co-hosted with Kajsa Balkfors and Phil Cass on building communities (of practice or else)) was the preciousness of shared language - as a vessel in which we encounter each other within the sea of shared consciousness." - Marjeta Novak
