Welcome to the harvest site

Welcome to the harvest site of Practitioner's Gathering 2016.  The gathering took place 2 - 8 October in Slovenia.  This site will grow and change as participants and the harvesting team generate and upload content to feed the richness of the Art of Hosting field.

Please also join the conversation on the Art of Hosting Facebook page.

The Land is Hosting Us Well

The call and purpose of our Gathering

A time to host yourself, deepen your practice and connect with other practitioners.  A time to be strengthened in your focus, inspired in your work and connected both to mates and to a wider field of practice and vitality.  A time to explore or rest, connect or co-create as you wish.

This was an offering from stewards to the Art of Hosting practice field (and all others who wanted to join us).  We believe there is something important in continuing to invite to practice.  We have been watching our community grow rapidly and have been thinking deeply about capacity building and what capacities are needed in these uncertain times.

We asked ourselves how we stay in practice together, even as life demands our participation in ways that might seem overwhelming. How do we practice across all sorts of diversity like geography, language, age, gender, etc.?  How do we strengthen our ability to work in emergence and crisis?  What does it mean to strengthen our methods and our practice?  What have we learned and what can we share?   This was a time to come together and explore what we’ve experienced and how we can help each other.

PROGRAMME

The shape of our time together

Sunday:  Opening & checking in, whole group work to build the community field, share inspiration, support participants to get clear on their intentions.
  • Monday/Tuesday & Wednesday/Thursday:  Learning Tracks — Choose a specific track to follow for each segment.  Each track meets for two consecutive mornings (a total of 8 hours).  Be part of Open Space in the afternoon and evening.  Offer whatever you most want to focus on.
  • Friday:  Practitioner’s Day — sharing our learning, experiences and applications.  Harvesting for the community what we have learned in practice.  An opportunity to hear about new work, support development and find mates.
  • Saturday:  Collective Sensemaking and group harvest of our whole time together.

We met in a wonderful hotel by the sea in Slovenia

We were warmly welcomed by our amazing local hosting team and well taken care of.  This was an opportunity to find mates, deepen practice, learn new skills and make connections across the world.  This gathering was held in an Art of Hosting style, but all practitioners were welcome.

We experienced, once again, the joy of learning, the strength of being in practice together and the next edges of our own personal practices.  We had a simple, but strong design, with learning in the morning, sharing after lunch and Open Space for afternoons and evenings.  It held us well.  This was a place to come to be refreshed, retooled, refocused and renewed.  THANK YOU! to everyone who came, and everyone who supported us coming and being part of this wonderful event!

We are happy to share what we are learning and keen to support others to gather as well.  Keep checking this website as we post more of our harvest.  Comments are enabled for each of the Tracks so you can be part of the conversation.

Please share the invitation to gather with others in your network and stay in practice!
